PERSONAL CARE SERVICES:

Personal care services are designed to help clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitor medical conditions and to help preserve and provide a safe and sanitary home. The kinds of activities that the aide performs are comparable to those that family members would perform for the person in need. Aides provide assistance with the 5 ADLs: bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, eating. The aide also helps to maintain the home environment, including light cleaning, laundry, shopping, and keeping the home safe. The client's vital signs, such as respiratory rate, pulse rate, and temperature, are observed. The aide may also remind the client to take prescribed medication(s), when necessary, transport and/or escort the client to doctor appointments(only our SC aides), and go grocery shopping/errands.

ATTENDANT CARE SERVICES:

Attendant care services are provided to our Community Alternatives Program Clients (CAP). We service clients from the CAP for Disabled Adults(CAP-DA) and CAP for Children (CAP-C) Programs. We also provide Attendant Care Services to our Head and Spinal Cord Injury (HASCI) Program Clients. The Community Alternatives Programs (CAP) allow North Carolina to use Medicaid funds to provide home-and community-based services to Medicaid beneficiaries who require placement in a nursing facility, but for whom care can be provided cost-effectively and safely in the community with CAP services. The Head and Spinal Cord Injury (HASCI) waiver serves persons with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or both, or a similar disability not associated with the process of a progressive degenerative illness, disease, dementia, or a neurological disorder related to aging. The services offered in this waiver are meant to prevent and/or delay institutionalization in a nursing home or ICF/IID. All participants must meet either the Nursing Facility level of care or the ICF/IID level of care criteria. Attendant care services are designed to help individuals by offering support for activities of daily living (ADLs), monitor medical conditions and help preserve and provide a safe and sanitary home. Aides provide assistance with the 5 ADLs: bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, eating. The aide also helps to maintain the home environment, including light cleaning, laundry, shopping, and keeping the home safe.
